Comprehensive eye exams are a vital component of the healthcare plan for people of all ages. We are happy to check eyes of all ages, starting at 6 months old.

In addition to assessing the need for optical correction with glasses and/or contact lenses, the comprehensive exam is also assessing each component of the eye to ensure that everything is working optimally in the present moment and into the future. This is where we can detect ocular diseases like cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. We’re also assessing whether other health conditions (ex. Diabetes, high blood pressure) may be affecting the eyes.

Alberta Health covers a yearly eye exam for all Albertans aged 0-18 and 65+. In addition, Alberta Health covers appointments for all ages if they are related to urgent eye care, eye infections and medically necessary treatment appointments.
